About Me

If by some chance you did not make the connection, my name is Spencer Beale. I was born and raised in Vancouver, WA. Some people know this place as "The Couve" or "Vantucky", but this is Washington state and not Canada.

Work

Washington has treated me exceptionally well over the years, but I no longer live there. I joined the Air Force and went to basic training on February 8th, 2011. Basic training was at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. I can't give much of an opinion of Texas because I only was really in San Antonio for two days. They seem to keep you on lockdown during for basic training,; I can't imagine why.

From there I went to technical school at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS where I learned my current career field: Radio Frequency Transmission Systems. I learned everything from handheld radios to satellite communications.

After seven months of training, my completion of technical school brought me to my current base: Beale AFB, CA. Yes, my last name is the name of the base. I've checked but there is no relation between me and the person who the base was named after.

Every day I run into a new person, "Hey! You have the same name as the base! Did you know that?!" Sometimes it's annoying, but most of the time I laugh it off and act like it's the first time I've heard it. At the very least it's a good ice breaker and helps me meet new people.

Hobbies & Entertainment

When I'm not at work, saving the world every day like a boss, I love to play music, video games, eat, go hiking, read, dance and hang out with friends.

Music

The main instruments I play are drums/percussion, piano, saxophone, and guitar. I've also dinked around with a few others, but not enough to mention them. I have a real passion for music. Music and instruments are merely an extension of my body that I try to use to communicate. I am by no means the best musician you'll ever hear, but I still enjoy doing what I do.

Video Games

Like most kids born in the 90s, I've played many games over the years, but the games I play as of late are League of Legends and Starcraft II. My favorite genres are: MMORPG, first person shoot 'em ups, strategy based.

Delicious Noms

I love food. I am not a picky eater. If someone makes me food, I will at least try it. But if you want to be safe, you can never go wrong with pizza (especially the Cowboy from Papa Murphy's), pasta, chicken, Mac & Cheese, Top Ramen, and sushi.

The Outdoors

I have always loved being outdoors, but I did not have very many opportunities to do hiking. Since I've been at Beale AFB I have already gone several times. There is nothing like being out in nature, rock climbing, crossing streams, and taking in the sheer beauty of it all. I hope to hike as many places as I can, wherever I'm stationed.

Reading - The Power of Shakespeare

As a young lad it was pretty much impossible to find a book in my hands. The only reason you would is for school, and there was still Spark Notes to solve that problem and ease the pain. But my senior year of high school I took a Shakespeare class with Mr. Wargo. That teacher was amazing and converted me to a reader for life.

Although I still read mostly non-fiction books, I read more than I ever have in my life. I am in the middle of The Hobbit, and I want to finish that before I see the movie. Other books I like: Bible, Systematic Theology, Titus Andronicus, and 1984.

Dancing

Swing dancing is quite possibly one of the greatest things on earth to do. Like music, I'm not the best, but there is always good times to be had. If anything, it's a good laugh to watch me. If you ever are in Portland, OR go to either The Scottish Rite or the PPAA; Both are great places to learn and to have fun.

I also love jump style and shuffling. Anything with a solid beat or has awesome break downs I'll be sure to make a fool of myself, but have fun nevertheless!

Friends - I swear I have them somewhere!

Hanging out with friends is one of my top fun things to do. There are always good times to be had. We don't even have to really do anything. If there is one thing to take away, know that I am 100% loyal to my friends and always have their backs.
